The Daily Living at Blackdown
We all enjoy eating and socialising around a meal and it is no different at Blackdown. Meals times are an important part of the daily routine and to emphasise this, in 2017, Lavender lounge has been converted into a dining room to allow us to offer the dining experience to our residents.
We place great emphasis on quality and traditional cooking and offer a variety of choice for each meal. A qualified cook prepares all meals, which are carefully planned to ensure they are rich in flavour and nutritional value. We are happy to cater for special dietary requirements and individual preferences. In addition to breakfast, lunch and supper, hot and cold drinks and a range of snacks are available throughout the day and night.
Activities are organised to ensure that there is always something going on in the home. We now have a full time activity coordinator who strives to accommodate any personal interest. We have monthly musical entertainment and seasonal events are constantly being organized.
We have joined TASS (Tavistock Area Support Services) to allow us to provide trips out also to residents with limited mobility such as trips to the newly build Kelly College swimming pool.
Residents Support Meetings
Every other month a meeting is held for the residents and their families and friends. These meetings enable relatives and friends to get together and share their concerns and requests with the staff and other families.
We have an up to date Facebook page that lists events and keeps families informed with pictures of activities going on in the home and we publish a quarterly newsletter with any further information.
